STEVEN STANLEY RECORDING STUDIO
Home
A veteran engineer, producer and mixer, Stanley is known for his gift for finding frequencies. Mixing is his specialty and his current main focus. He has a natural ear for bringing the instruments and vocals together in a way that brings out the soul and “flava” of the music while the instruments maintain their natural sounds; and for keeping things in harmony – bringing tracks together and balancing the various instruments, vocals and echoes with a clean separation.
Stanley has been working in the studios since 1975, and has collaborated with some of Jamaica’s most renowned musicians. He has had a range of successful hit songs within Reggae and many other genres of music, both in Jamaica and abroad. Stanley has a Gold Record for his work on the self-titled album by the Tom Tom Club, with track “Genius of Love” (Warner Bros), which made #1 on the US Billboard charts. The sound he created for this song was made popular once again by Mariah Carey, who sampled it for her Billboard hit “Fantasy,” and earned Stanley an ASCAP 1997 Pop Award for Writing. He also received a Gold Record from the RIAA for his work on the B52’s album Wild Planet and has worked on two Grammy Award winning albums, Anthem by Black Uhuru (the first Jamaican Grammy Award for a Reggae Album, co-produced with Sly & Robby in 1984) and the recent Grammy Winning Album Dutty Rock by Sean Paul. Stanley did the mixing on the track “I’m Still in Love With You” in his own studio in Kingston, Steven Stanley Recording.
