Rolando “Phanso” Wilson and Dwight “Duke” Dawes made their foray into music as member of the famed Gumption Band where they played the drums and the keyboard respectively. Gumption is among the most famous backup bands in Jamaica and has been awarded the Best Backing Band by the Jamaica Federation of Musicians from 2000—3. Phanso and Duke’s affiliation with Gumption has enabled them to develop a strong working relationship with Jamaica’s top artists including Monty Alexander and Beres Hammond. These relationships provide Phanso and Duke with an extensive network which they leverage to facilitate co-productions, compilations and artist combinations.
